Educated at Public School in Bicknell, Utah, Garnet nearly graduated high school with honors in music, singing, homemaking, and writing. The family, led by her father, eventually settled in Tularosa, New Mexico, where he declared himself a prophet, aligning with Joseph Smith and appointing other men as Counselors. Garnet’s life took a significant turn when she married Eldon Dean Taylor. Tragically, their firstborn succumbed to prematurity, a moment overshadowed by her father’s departure, leaving her to give birth alone. The family relocated to the Ozark Mountains in Missouri, where Zion’s Order Sons of Levi, Inc. was established in the year 1949 at Cedar Gap.
